Hi Everyone!

Hope you're having a wonderful day whether you're home with your family or out at work. Here in Ontario we are celebrating Family Day so I am home relaxing with my hubby and the kids. My daughter, Molly is a budding paper crafter, so when we saw an adorable little bunny basket that Chris Galbraith had made, she suggested we make an Easter chicken to go with the Easter Bunny. I have to be honest, other than cutting the card stock, Molly did the punching out, gluing together and designing! The 3D beak was totally her idea as well. I was just going to punch out one of the 5 petal flowers and cut one petal off when she took it, snipped a piece off, folded it up and put it on his face. She's a natural I tell ya! Now she wants to make a video!

The recipe for this is really simple - Fancy Favor Box cut from So Saffron for the base, Scallop Circle Bigz Die cut 2 from Daffodil Delight for the body front and back. His eyes are 2 Whisper White 1" circles, 2 Basic Black 3/4" circles and 1 Daffodil Delight 1" circle cut in half for eyelids. The beak and feet are cut from Cajun Craze using the 5 petal flower punch, and his little wings are the birds from the 2-step bird punch. I have to say I think he turned out pretty cute! I'd love to know what you think of him too, so feel free to leave a comment.

Something For One of the Guys

Hi Everyone!

I've been wanting to make a square card for a while, just hadn't found a layout I could work with until this one. Very simple, I know, but I like the clean and simple look - especially for a guys card. The base on this one is 51/4" square and made from So Saffron card stock. My next layer is 5" of Chocolate Chip, and then 43/4" Baja Breeze. To add a little bit of interest to the blue layer I decided to try the new builder wheels (that I've had for a while) the Birthday wheel and the Candle Crazy wheel. I love these little builder wheels! It's so much fun to mix and match to create your own unique backgrounds or designer papers! For the greeting on the card I chose square birthday one from the Take A Spin stamp set in the new Occasions Mini Catalogue. I inked it with Baja Breeze classic ink and then stamped it on a piece of Whisper White card stock that I cut to be 1" larger than the stamped image. I then mounted this on another piece of Chocolate Chip card stock that was 1/2" larger again. Using a piercing tool, I put a small hole in the center of the greeting and added one of the new game spinner pieces. To put these on properly so they will spin, the washer is on the bottom, the arrow piece on top of the washer and then the brad goes on top of that with the little prongs going through the stacked bits and the card stock. I then mounted the whole greeting piece to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Whooooo Doesn't Love an Owl?

Hi Everyone!

With Valentine's Day coming soon I have been looking for some cute treat holder ideas to make with my Stamp Club girls - and here she is! I would love to take credit for this sweet little owl, but she is a CASE of the original from Lynn Put over at The Queen's Scene. Made from the Pillow Box Die, there is actually no stamping on this project, just lots of our fabulous SU! punches. I loved how Lynn did her's in the pinks so I decided to do the same - a great color choice considering my kids both have female teachers and these will make perfect Valentine's for them. I like the fact that they easily hold some Hershey's kisses! Mmmm chocolate!
So that's my share for today, hope you like it!

Playing with some Sale-A-bration sets

Hi Everyone!

It's a beautiful sunny day here in northern Ontario; but it's cold ! Yup, a good day to bring a hot cup of coffee to the stamping space and see what happens! I've had some of the Sale-A-Bration products for a little bit now so I figured it was about time to try them out. I started with this weeks sketch from the operators over at Stamping 411. I chose Crumb Cake card stock as my base because everything goes with this great neutral color. Then I opened up my pack of Ice Cream Parlor designer paper from SAB, the matching button and ribbon pack, and the So Happy for You stamp set, and this is what I came up with. Pretty, quick, and simple! I love the colors of the Ice Cream Parlor sets: Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Old Olive and Pacific Point.

I stayed with the more girly colors for this card. Don't you just love the little flower buttons! Hard to believe that you can have these sets for Free! Stamp Club Project

Hi Everyone!

Well, here it is, December 1st! The count down is on! I have one final Stamp Club get together coming up this weekend and this is one of the projects I am going to have them make.

As always I see lots of these little luminaries popping up all over the place and I put them on my to do list and never get around to it. This time however; I was intent on trying it out, so with tutorial in hand from Splitcoaststampers I set about to make one for myself!

I followed the basic template for the luminary, but substituted a base made of Crumb Cake card stock so that I could add designer series papers of differing patterns on each side. I chose the Deck the Halls designer paper because I love it's vintage Christmas look. Around the bottom I trimmed it with (sadly) some retired Riding Hood Red taffeta ribbon. On the holly berry sides I used the small holly stamp from the Tags til Christmas set, colored in with Stamin' write makers, punched out with the medium oval punch and attached to the luminary with a Stampin' dimensional. On the Cherry Cobbler print sides I made a little poinsettia using the 5-Petal Flower Extra Large punch. I punched 2 of the flowers out of Cherry Cobbler card stock and the sponged them over with Bravo Burgundy to give them some dimension. I placed on a top the other, with the petals offset, and the used one of the new Glimmer Brads in Champagne (basics collection) as the center. I attached these to the luminary using mini glue dots. For the windows on the luminary I used the new Decorative Label Extra large punch and put a piece of vellum card stock behind each. And there you have it! Santa Claus is Coming To Town!

It's closer than I want to think! I have some of my shopping and decorating started, but I am a long way from being finished! I think, for me, the hardest part is figuring out what to get for the teachers, the bus driver, and the sitter. I usually go with gift cards, so then the challenge is to come up with a cute holder and not just stick it in a card. Well I think this guy will be well received this year! Yes, Santa is a gift card holder AND an adorable little ornament! I cannot take full credit for this amazing project - he is the brain child of the amazingly talented Andrea Walford. She and her sister Sophia create fabulous projects and share them with those of us that lack in the mojo department from time to time.

So Santa will be making the rounds this year for sure!

I Just Love These Tealight Holders!

Hi Everyone!

Yes I know it's been awhile since I've posted a project and I apologize for that, but alas life is busy and sometimes my crafting has to take a backseat. The nice thing about this little project is that it only takes about 5 minutes! WooHoo!
You have probably seen these floating around on various blogs and other websites and it is because they are super cute and super fast to whip off! The longest part of this project was actually the trip to the local hardware store to by the roof flashing! To make this darling little votive holder you simply need to buy roof flashing (comes in a roll about 12"x36"), use the Flower Folds BIGZ Die, the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and your Big Shot. Cut the flashing into a strip that is long and long enough to cover the Flower Folds Die and run it through the Big Shot. I used the 3 biggest flowers for this one, but you can decide for your self.
*hint*Make sure there is enough pressure on the die as it is run through the Big Shot - I used some paper shims to make it a bit tighter so that the flowers would pop out of the metal without too much effort.
Once you have your flowers punched out, one at a time, put them into the embossing folder of your choice and run them through the Big Shot. After you have embossed all your layers, gently fold up the petals, layer your pieces ( I used mini glue dots to attach my layers) and Voila!
Yup! That simple! These would make a great hostess gift as a set, or a teacher's gift, or as part of the setting on a Wedding reception table... the possibilities are endless!
So now it's your turn!

Oh My...I LOVE My Digital Studio!!

Yes, I know it's been out for a while now but I've always been a "traditionalist" when it comes to my scrapbooks. I have seen some beautiful projects online from other Demos using their MDS so I finally decided to jump onto the band wagon. WOW! So glad I did! I received in the mail yesterday and loaded it onto my computer last night. Super easy and it didn't take really that long to do.
So this morning, because it's a rather rainy, gray day, I figured I would play around with it. It is SO easy! You absolutely DO NOT need to be a computer whiz to use this software, it has a great users guide and help functions. This is my very first page and it only took about 20 minutes! I know it's pretty simple, but hey, I'm just getting warmed up! You will definitely be seeing more MDS projects from me!

Awash With Challenges

Hi Everyone!

Hope you're all having a great Friday. For today's card I combined a couple of challenges; the Saturday Sketch Challenge from Stamping 411 and the color challenge from Just Add Ink . Sometimes I just need a little inspirational push, so I look to challenges to get me rolling!

Because I tend to be a bit of a paper hoarder, I still have a good amount of Kiwi Kiss in my stash; however I am out of Barely Banana so I switched it for So Saffron. Chocolate Chip is a fav of mine, so that's always on hand! I knew I wanted to play with my Awash With Flowers Sneak Peek set some more, so this was a perfect opportunity.

I started with the largest flower image and stamped it using Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. Now, if you've seen this set, you know that the image is like a side view of a flower, so to get a full flower image I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig. I love this tool for so many reasons! I stamped the image onto the card stock where I wanted it to be, but not centered so that I could have room to stamp the other half of the flower. I then stamped the image onto the imaging sheet of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, rotated it, and lined it up with the with stamped image, then stamped the image onto the card stock and voila! a full flower. Not bad, eh? I used the filler stamp in More Mustard to "color in" my flower, and again I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig.

I'm sure you've seen those cute frosted brads. Well I decided to make my own and use it for the center of my flower. I started with one of our Jumbo Brads (5/16") in Chocolate Chip. I stuck it in the top of a near by kleenex box to hold it, then put Crystal Effects on the top of it, sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds over it and let it dry. That's all there is to it! You could do this with any of your brads and bring a little bling to your projects!

The greeting I used on the front is from the Sale-a-bration set Whimsical Words. This set is no longer available, so I hope you got yours while they were out. I stamped it in Chocolate Chip ink as well. I wanted to add just a little something more on the image so I found my Color Spritzer Tool and spritzed some Chocolate Chip ink around on the edges. I had forgotten how fun this tool can,be! You simply slide in the brush tip end of your Stampin' Write marker into the holder, secure it and then squeeze the bulb end and quite literally watch the color fly!

To finish the card front, I ran it through the Big Shot using the Finial Press Embossing Folder and then punched the edges using our new Scalloped Trim Corner punch. As you can see from the sketch, I was supposed to add ribbon but I didn't think it would fit, so instead I slipped a simple piece of the Kiwi Kiss under the image front before I mounted it on the Chocolate Chip card stock. On the edge I added a little button in Old Olive from the Playground collection.

BIG NEWS FROM STAMPIN' UP!!

Hi Everyone!
I'm sure you are all aware that Stampin' Up! is an industry leader in stamping and scrapbooking supplies and to stay at the top you need to know when to do little things and when to do the BIG things. Well hold onto you ink pads ' cause this is HUGE!!

STAMPIN' UP IS DOING A HUGE COLOR RENOVATION THIS JULY!!!!!!

What does this mean? New colors! Old colors! And retiring colors! Instead of offering 6 new In Color colors each year, beginning with the new catalogue in July, there will be 5 new In Color colors that will hang around for 2 years!! They are changing up the color families - first by changing the name from families to Collections, and doing new groupings : Subtles, Regals, Brights and Neutrals. There will be 10 core colors in each collection for a total of 40 instead of the previous 48. Big changes for sure! So how is this going to work? Well, this is where the old colors and retiring colors part comes in...
Some of our favorite In Colors from the past have made the grade and are coming back into the fold as core colors! Yeah! This does mean; however, that some of the current core colors are being retired. Rest assured that even though the list of retiring core colors is long - Stampin' Up didn't put these colors out to pasture on a whim. They are a company very in tune with the fashion and decor industry and much research was done before the decisions were made. I realize that some of you might be disappointed at some of the colors that are being cut - but we must be open to new things! And you are going to LOVE the new In Colors !

Happy Tuesday Stampers!

And a lovely Tuesday it is! The sun is shining and the snow is melting, albeit slowly. Today's card is using another bunch of Spring-y colors - Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Apricot Appeal and Lovely Lilac.
I used Naturals Ivory card stock for the base and cut it to 6"x 7" (scored at 3.5") so that I have a long narrow card (for a change). Next I used another piece of Naturals Ivory card stock to stamp the flowers on. The stamp set I choose was With All My Heart from the Occasions Mini (available on wood or clear mount). I inked the largest flower in Regal Rose and stamped it randomly. I did the same with the next size flower in Apricot Appeal and then the smallest flower in Lovely Lilac. I then cut the card stock into 3 equal squares and mounted them onto 3 pieces of Regal Rose card stock that measured just 1/8" larger than the Naturals Ivory card stock. I put these aside for a moment. I selected a piece of Certainly Celery designer paper as my back ground. I cut it to 53/4 x 31/2" so as to leave a border around it and mounted it onto the card front. Then I adhered the 3 stamped and mounted pieces side by side to the front of the card. If you look closely you can tell where I cut the stamped pieces between some of the flowers - make sure when you're putting your pieces on the front, you put them in order so the flowers will match up.
To finish it off, I wrapped a length of Regal Rose 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon around the front of the card and tied it with a bow. The greeting I selected is also from the With All my Heart stamp set. I inked it with our Classic Black ink and stamped it onto a piece of the Naturals Ivory card stock again. I punched it out with our large Oval Punch. Next I punched out a scalloped oval in Certainly Celery card stock with our Scalloped Oval Punch. I mounted the greeting onto the scalloped oval using our Snail Adhesive and then mounted it to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals.
And there you have it! A quick and easy card with lots of Spring colors to get you in the mood for better weather! I hope you enjoy today's card, and as always feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

Awash with Flowers Birthday

Hi Everyone!

Today's card is my take on the Saturday Sketch Challenge over at Stamping 411. It's also my first sample using the Sneak Peek set - Awash with Flowers. This set is available for the month of April only and then not again until the new catalogue is released this summer! I love getting things early, don't you?! So don't wait, get your set today! Now, about the card. I started with Whisper White card stock for the base and sponged around the edges with So Saffron classic ink. The designer series paper for the first layer is from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack. This is a great assortment of patterned 12x12 papers, perfect for your scrapbooks or for on your cards. It's only available until the end of April so order one soon so you don't miss out. My focal point is stamped on Whisper White and off set mounted on a piece of Cameo Coral card stock. I sponged around the edges of both with the Cameo Coral Ink. I also used the paper piercing tool with the mat pack to add some interest to the corners of the main image. The greeting is from the Well Scripted stamp set, inked in Tempting Turquoise, stamped on Whisper White card stock and then punched out using the Scallop Oval punch. I mounted the greeting on a piece of Tempting Turquoise card stock that I punched out using the Wide Oval punch and then adhered it to the front of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. The ribbon is 1/4" grosgrain in Turquoise and attached to the card using our Sticky Strip. The final element on my card is the perfectly matching button. I made this button! It's really very easy and a great way to have that extra little something for your project. To make the button, use the 1" circle punch and punch out 5 circles in the color card stock of your choice. Next, glue all the circles, one on top of each other, using our 2-way glue pen. Once the button has dried, punch 2 holes in the middle using the smallest punch on the Crop-a-dile. Thread a piece of Hemp Twine through the holes and knot. See! Easy as pie! Now you will always have buttons to match any project you're working on.

It's a Snowy Sunday - Good day for Stamping!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry for such a long hiatus from my blogging, but my other job was getting in the way! LOL!

Here's a really quick and easy card to make. I CASED this one from an issue of Stampin' Success, a monthly magazine for Stampin' Up Demos only that has lots of great projects in it and sneak peaks of what's coming up. This is just one of the perks of being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator - have you ever considered it?

The base of the card is made from textured Chocolate Chip card stock. I inked up our Medallion stamp in Chocolate Chip classic in and stamped it just off to the left of the card so most, but not all of the Medallion is on the front. The greeting is one of Vintage Labels stamps from the Sale-a-Bration set. (there's still time to get yours free!) I inked it with Crushed Curry ink and stamped it onto Whisper White card stock and punched it out using the Scallop Circle punch. The "For You" is also from the Vintage Labels set, and was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink into the center of the Label. I used a piece of Chocolate Chip stitched felt ribbon (retired) and silver brads to attach the ribbon to the front of the card and then popped up the greeting label with Stampin' Dimensionals. I continued with the Medallion image inside the card as well. I lined the inside with a piece of Whisper White card stock that I scalloped the bottom edge using the Scallop Border punch and then stamped a portion of the Medallion image off the bottom right side. I chose to use the Crushed Curry ink again to carry through from the front of the card. The sentiment I chose is from the Heard from the Heart set. If you have this set then you know that I didn't ink the entire sentiment. It actually reads, "wishing you happiness today & always." but I didn't want it all so I colored the parts I did want with a Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write marker and then stamped it onto the card. And there you have it, a quick and easy card in under 10 minutes!

Hi Everyone!

I found some time to stamp in between watching the Olympics! Even though we're still in February, I figured it's not too early to start on some Easter projects. I have seen lots of these little Top Note boxes and wanted to try one for myself. I'm very pleased with how it turned out and how simple it really was to make! You can find the tutorial for this little box here.
I love Easter. To me it means spring time, and what better colors and papers to use on an Easter box but the Shades of Spring designer series paper from the Occasions Mini. The box top and bottom use a piece of the designer paper in Orchid Opulence. I made the box itself from card stock in Pretty in Pink, and the ribbon surrounding the box is the new 5/8" satin ribbon in Pretty in Pink as well. The embellishments on the front were an easy choice. I used Certainly Celery card stock and ran it through my Big Shot with the Label 2 die from the Lots of Tags Sizzlits. I used the Happy Easter from the Well Scripted stamp set (also in the Occasions Mini), inked with Orchid Opulence and stamped onto Whisper White card stock for the greeting. I then punched it out using the wide oval punch, sponged the edges with Certainly Celery ink and then centered it onto the tag. The final element on the box is the flower. I love, love LOVE these little Sweet Pea Stitched Felt accents! They are so cute, and add so much to your projects! I haven't even used up all that I have, and I've already ordered more! LOL!

So there's my little project for today. It is also going to be one of the projects for my Stampers Club this weekend. I'm sure they will like it! It's just the right size to hide a little bag of the Cadbury Mini Eggies. I hope you like this and try one for yourself very soon! My Saturday Sketch Challenge Entry

Hi Everyone!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was great. Hosted a surprise Birthday party for my hubby and we had a really good time. It was 4 couples and 7 kids and you'd think the party was for the kids the way they were having fun! So I figured after that, I should probably relax and get some cards made. One of my favorite places to go for sketch challenges is over to Stamping 411. The operators over there always have a great sketch to give you a starting point for a card. So this is my submission for the SSC#137. The color inspiration for this card came from the new designer series paper Shades of Spring. I had originally intended to use a piece of the designer series paper on the card, but then got caught up in my butterflies instead. These colors are definitely out of my comfort zone, but I do like how cheery they are. This would also make a nice combination for an Easter card.

This card really took very little time to come together. Instead of the designer series paper, I used the butterfly from the Great Friend stamp set inked in Orchid Opulence and stamped it randomly on a piece of Whisper White card stock. The next butterfly is the small one from the Flight of the Butterfly set, inked with So Saffron and stamped randomly. To finish it off I used the leaf image from Great Friend in Certainly Celery and the small flower from Flight of the Butterfly in Pretty in Pink. This is a quick and easy way to make your own designer paper, and because it's an accent piece, it doesn't need to be perfect. The greeting on the front is from the Occasions Mini, Messages for Mom stamp set. This is a very versatile set to cover any reason for sending your Mom a card, even just because! To carry over the butterfly theme, I ran a piece of Pretty in Pink card stock through the Big Shot using the new Beautiful Wings embosslit die and adhered them to the card with mini glue-dots. I finished off the front with a strip of Certainly Celery 1/4" grosgrain ribbon.

The inside of the card showcases one of new style punches, the Pinking Hearts Corner punch. It takes a plain piece of card stock and gives it that extra something with 4 quick punches! I simply cut the Whisper White card stock to 51/4x4" and then punched each corner out. Voila! I added the sentiment from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set and the 2-step butterfly as well.

Another Challenge Card

OK, So I'm a week behind, but at least I'm posting! LOL! I have decided that for my Stampers Club I will feature a festive card (i.e the previous Valentine's card), a 3D item and a birthday card so we can have enough on hand when needed. For this card I chose to use last weeks Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge and made this masculine themed birthday card. I suppose you could send it to a female, but I figure with the trees and the blues and greens it could pass more for one of the guys. I liked this sketch as it gave me a chance to use some of the designer paper from the new Sweet Pea Designer Series paper stack. This is an awesome new product available in the current Occasions Mini catalogue! It has 48 sheets of 12x12" designer series papers that are perfect for your scrapbooks or as accents on your cards. I choose a piece that had the Trendy Trees on it and used it with the Trendy Trees stamp set. I copied the coloring of the trees from the paper onto the main image of the card for continuity. I liked how it turned out, and I must confess this is the first time I've used my Trendy Trees set, and I have had it for a while. I'll definitely be using it again, I like it's simplicity.

WOW it's been a looooong time!

Ok, so I take longer than some to get back into the flow of things after the Holidays! I'm just very blessed that you all haven't given up on me!

I can honestly say my Mojo went into hibernation so I needed some inspiration to get back at my stampin' desk. I'm loving the products in the new Occasions Mini , the Sale-a-bration flyer and the updates for the Definitely Decorative catalogue! So with new products in hand and the Mojo Monday sketch #121 I set out to get a start on the projects for my Stampers Club this month.

This card actually came together quite quickly. I based the color scheme all on the colors used in the new Sending Love Specialty designer series paper. The card base is Chocolate Chip card stock. The next layer is a piece of the Sending Love Specialty paper cut to 51/4 x 4". I love that this paper has glitter hi lights on it! I used a piece of Pretty in Pink card stock for the base of the focal image. The main image on the card is actually one of the new decor stencils from the Love U stencil set. It matched well with the pattern on the designer paper so I decided to try it. I held the stencil in place and then using a sponge dauber and Real Red ink, I stenciled it onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. I kept up the glitter by using the 2-way Glue pen and sprinkling Dazzling Diamonds Embossing powder on the glue. The sentiment is from the Great Friend stamp set and is stamped in Real Red classic ink as well. I love, love, love the new punches being introduced in the Occasions Mini as well! I used the Pinking Hearts Border punch for along the bottom. To finish the card off i used some of our new 5/8" satin ribbon in Pretty in Pink.

Stampers Club Project

Hi Everyone!
Isn't this just the cutest little gift box! When I saw this on UStamp with Dawn and Friends, I knew I had to make one! This fab little project is courtesy of the fab Linda Hansen. For those of you who don't know who Linda is, she used to work for Stampin' Up creating awesome projects and coming up with wonderful tips that she shared with us Demonstrators that we could in turn share with you, our customers. Linda is a Creative Crew Girl with UStamp so we can still benefit from her talents with ink and paper.
Because this little box is super cute and easy to put together, I decided that it will be one of the projects we will be making at our Stampers Club meeting this coming weekend. I'm sure my girls are going to love this as much as I do! For this project I used Soft Suede card stock for the lid and the box form, pieces from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty designer series paper and the Delightful Decorations stamp set. The ribbon is from the Alpine Originals collection, this was from last year, but it's still available on the Clearance Rack. What?! Didn't know we had a clearance section? Click here and see what other great deals are there!

The lid of the box is Soft Suede card stock that was run through the Big Shot with the Top Note die and then embossed using the Petals-a-Plenty textured impressions folder. The ribbon goes under the box and through the sides of the lid and then ties on top. To get the ribbon through the lid, use a utility knife and make a slice the width of the ribbon on both sides. The tag is one of the Delightful Decorations stamped in Real Red ink and then punched out with the Ornament punch. The center is another of the stamps from the Delightful Decorations set, inked in Old Olive, punched out with the 3/4" punch and adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals. Then I punched a small hole in the top and threaded through some Gold Elastic Cord .

Getting Back into the Groove

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all having a great weekend whereever you may be. Mine has been good so far - I made it into my stampin' space today! Yeah! Twice in about a week now, go me!

Anyway. Do you, or have you ever had a moment when you pull out items that you just had to buy, yet haven't used then in forever, only to get inspired by them again? Well that was me today. I honestly cannot remember the last time I heat embossed anything. Sad I know, but true. That and the beautiful Square Fire Rhinestone Brads that have been sitting with my other embellishments patiently awaiting their turn on one of my creations. So I started off trying to figure out how to use my Patterned Pines stamp set and some of my paper scraps. I have always loved our Certainly Celery color and decided to start there. Since I only had a small piece of it, the Whisper White cardbase was an easy selection. Now I don't know how many of you out there own our Color Coach wheel, but if you don't, you should. I wanted to keep the card fairly simple so I turned to the Color Coach to help choose what other colors would co-ordinate with the Certainly Celery. You simply select your color and then dial the wheel to that color and it gives you co-ordinating color choices and complementary color choices! Awesome! So I chose to go with Old Olive, another of my favs. I began by inking the snowflake from the Patterned Pines set in the Old olive ink and then stamping the image randomly over the front of the Whisper White card front. Next I used the same ink to stamp the 3 pine tree images onto the Certainly Celery card stock. As I stood looking at the image I knew I wanted to add some WOW but in a small dose. The Patterned Pines set also has a small single star image in the set so I chose to use that. And that's when I reached for my gold embossing powder. I started with the little gold star above the middle tree, then I decided that the greeting should be embossed in gold as well. I chose the Christmas Greetings stamp set. I like this set as it has your greeting and sentiment all in one. So I embossed the Merry Christmas under the trees. As I looked at it, I knew I wanted just a little something more. Gold brads? Nope, don't have any. Hmmmm. And then I spotted them! The square fire rhinestone brads! Why hadn't I thought of those before! Because I hadn't used them in forever. They were the perfect extra I was looking for. So they went into each corner and I attached the focal point to the card front and ther it is. Love it. For the inside I kept it simple. I used the sentiment from the Christmas Greetings stamp set and stamped it using the Old Olive ink. Next I used the little "swag" stamp from the Patterned Pines set for the corners. I took my Stampin' Write Markers in Certainly Celery and Real Red and colored directly onto the stamp and then stamped it onto the card. Done!

Merry Tuesday!

Hi Everyone!

Time sure flies when you've got company! I was blessed to have my Mom and Dad come and stay with me for the month of October. I truly enjoyed the visit seeing as we live so far apart now and usually only see each other once a year. So instead of stamping (bad me) I hung out with them - quality time.

Now that they are gone (sad me), I've popped back into my stampin' space and tried my hand at an easel card. You can find the tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers HERE. I really like the fact that the card folds down and fits into a standard A2 envelope. For this card I used Kraft, Soft Suede, Real Red and Whisper White card stock. I stamped Dasher using Soft Suede ink. The greeting was also stamped using Soft Suede and is from the Christmas Greetings stamp set. The sentiment is from the same set and I used the Real Red ink for that. I stamped the sentiment onto the Whisper White card stock and then I punched it out with the Wide Oval Punch and then sponged the edges with the Real Red ink for definition. The little snow flakes on the bottom of the card are from the Delightful Decorations stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalogue and are stamped in Soft Suede. I really like the Soft Suede / Kraft color combo. The strip of designer series paper is from Christmas Cocoa Specialty papers, and I add a little extra detail to the front by simple paper piercing the edges using my piercing tool and the mat pack template. I have to say I like how this one turned out. It's really not that difficult a card to make, and it looks so nice the way it stands up. I hope you give it a try!

I LOVE the shimmer paints!

Hi Everybody!

Let me first apologize for being absent for the past month! Between getting the kids back to school, my trip to see U2 in concert and then another trip to Ottawa for a friends wedding - I've barely been home! But now I'm back and sharing a new Christmas card with you.

I love how this card looks like it took lots of time, but how simple it truly was! I used the Rich Razzleberry card stock as the card base - I love this color. I then used the Platinum Shimmer paint on one of the snowflakes from the Serene Snowflakes set and stamped it randomly over the card base. The focal point of the card was created using a piece of 3x3" Whisper White card sock and the Rich Razzleberry ink. The largest snowflake was stamped with the full ink, then I inked up a small snowflake, stamped it off once and then stamped it onto the Whisper White card stock randomly. The greeting is from the Four the Holidays stamp set in the new Holiday Mini and stamped in Basic Black ink. I then mounted it onto a piece of 33/4" square brushed Silver card stock and mounted it onto the card base with some dimensionals. C'est tout! Quick and easy and that's is why this will be one of the cards we will be making at my Christmas Card class on October 24th. So that's it for tonight. Another Great Sketch from the Operators!

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day here in Northeastern Ontario that I just couldn't stay inside! I had to take advantage because who knows how much longer those days will be around. Today has turned out to be a good stamping day as it's grey and rainy so I turned to one of my fav places for inspiration, Stamping 411, and this is my interpretation of their Saturday Sketch Challenge #115.

My color choices for this card were easy, I need one for someone who like pinks and browns. My card base is Kraft card stock cut at 51/2 x 81/2" and scored at 41/4". The pink layer is Pretty in Pink card stock that I embossed using the wonderful Perfect Details Texturz Plate Die. I love theses texture plates as they add so much to your project with very little effort! *TIP* Spritz your card stock with a bit of water before running it though with the Texturz Plate, it makes the image more crisp! The main image of the card is layered on a piece of 5 x 23/4" Soft Suede card stock, the Whisper White layer measures 43/4x 21/2". To separate the top and bottom perfectly, I simply used a regular pencil and ruler and drew a soft pencil line across the middle at 11/4". Using a piece of scrap paper, I covered the top section of the card stock and randomly stamped the small butterfly image from the set Flight of the Butterfly on the bottom using Pretty in Pink ink. I then used the small flower image from the same set and stamped it randomly as well using our new Melon Mambo ink. I really like how the Pretty in Pink and the Melon Mambo look together, so I opted to use the Melon Mambo for the sentiment across the top. I used my Stamp-a-ma -jig to perfectly center the sentiment which is from the Heard from The Heart set. I finished it all off with a piece of Melon Mambo ribbon tied around the center to give it the impression of 2 separate panels, and it also covers the pencil mark. I even carried over the pattern from the front of the card to the inside by making a 5 x 33/4" panel in Whisper White and using the small butterflies and flowers again, a nice touch I think.

Where has this week gone??

Hi Everyone!

Well, this week has been a busy one, that's for sure! Getting the kids back to school, making sure they are on the right bus and getting them back into their schedules again! But the good news is that we ALL survived! And now we're enjoying the long weekend together! I did manage to squeeze in a little quality creative time this week and here he is! I'd like to introduce you to Jack! I had seen his grimace on Lynn Put's blog and then again the other day on Gretchen Barron's blog and figured I'd give him a try! He was so easy! And no stamping for a change, just our SU! punches and the Pillow Box die .

He was so easy in fact that I have decided that he will be given to each my of children's teachers for Halloween. I love Halloween! I've always enjoyed dressing up in the costumes and I still do! The hospital that I work at lets us dress up and I do, every year! It makes it easy when I get home, then I only have to get the kids ready and I'm all set to guard the door!

Making Up for Lost Time!

Good Monday Afternoon Everyone!

I'm having too much fun with this new Christmas Cocoa Specialty paper (available Sept.1)! And I'm loving the Soft Suede - Real Red color combo! My card inspiration came from Stamping 411's Saturday Sketch Challenge #113. I really enjoy the sketches the operators over at 411 put together - keep up the great work ladies! Here's the how-to for this card...

Whisper White card stock cut at 41/4 x 11" and scored at 51/2" for the card base
Layer 1 is Soft Suede card stock cut to 41/8 x 53/8"
The bottom part of layer 2 is the striped print from the Christmas Cocoa Specialty paper cut to 4 x 31/4"
The top part of layer 2 is a piece of Real Red card stock that I first ran through the Big Shot with the new Petals-a-Plenty textured impressions folder (available Sept.1) and then cut to 4 x 2"
I adhered both pieces to the Soft Suede layer using my SNAIL, and then I wrapped and knotted a piece of Chocolate Chip felt ribbon (retired, sorry) to cover where the 2 pieces meet up
The main image is Dasher, from the under $12 page at the back of the SU! catalogue - I love him! I colored his antlers using the SU! markers in Soft Suede, Real Red, Always Artichoke and Bashful Blue, and then inked the body with the Basic Brown ink pad and stamped him onto a piece of 21/2 x 23/4" Whisper White card stock
I used the Ticket Corner Punch on the image layer - pretty much just because I like it :)
Dasher is layered on a piece of Real Red card stock 25/8 x 2 7/8", and then again on a piece of Soft Suede card stock 2 3/4 x 3", and adhered to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals
Noel comes from the Many Merry Messages stamp set. I inked it in Soft Suede, stamped it on Whisper White, punched it out using the Modern Label Punch, and inked around the edges with more of the Soft Suede. I adhered this to the card front using the SNAIL
The final element on the card are the big shimmery green brads - not from SU!. I found those in my stash and thought it just added that extra little bit. You could substitute these with the Real Red brads from the Bold Brights collection

Another Christmas Card - Wiper Style

I have to apologize for being away from my blog for so long. My husband's Grandmother passed away a week ago Friday and he had to fly home to Nova Scotia to be with his family, leaving me to fend for myself with the 2 kids and work and not my usual sitter. We survived and he is home with us now, so I seized the opportunity to sneak away to my stampin' space. When I saw the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers this week, I knew I had to try it! I decided to try out some of my new pre-order items from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalogue from SU! that include the new Christmas ornament punch, Christmas Cocoa Specialty designer paper and the Merry & Bright Rub-ons. The designer paper co-ordinates with Real Red and the new Soft Suede colors. I love how they look together! A nice change from the traditional red and green. The rub-ons come in white and silver and are so fun and easy to use. I especially like the ornament shaped rub-ons; simply rub them onto your piece of card stock and then punch it out with the ornament punch - perfect! That is how I made the Merry Little Christmas one on the card front. For the other ornament I simply punched it out of the Real Red card stock and then used the white Signo gel pen to put the dots around the edge and used a snowflake rub on in the center.

I'm Back...

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I've been away from the computer this past week, I don't quite know how it slipped by so quickly!! I will confess though, that I was stalking the Demos only side of Splitcoaststampers keeping tabs on what was going on in Salt Lake City during Stampin' Up's annual Convention. *sigh* I SO want to attend Convention...maybe next year if it all works out. I've almost got enough Airmiles! LOL!

I was a little rusty when I hit my stampin' space tonight, so I popped over to SCS and selected the current Color Challenge (#230) - Certainly Cocoa Blossoms. Definitely an interesting selection of colors, but I managed to get them together OK. Sometimes I find that certain colors just kinda ask for a certain stamp set, case in point my selection of Dreams Du Jour for this card. When I first put this card together I was finding the main panel of Blush Blossom to be too stark, so to soften it up I used a background stamp inked with the same Blush Blossom as the card stock, to give it a subtle tone-on-tone affect. I realize you can't see it very well in the picture, but I used the retired French Script background. I've been playing with a lot of butterflies lately, so I figured why not keep it going. I used the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and cut it out with the Big Shot. The body is simply a punch out from the horizontal slot punch, and the antennae are the scrap edges from the punch, stuck on with a mini glue dot. I sponged the edges in Close to Cocoa for some definition and the dew drops were added as an after thought.

So that's it for tonight's card. Pretty simple. I'll have to get my Mojo back and see what else I can create later this week.

A Little Pocket Card

Today's card is courtsey of the Pocket Card tutorial from Krista Driessen. She has been making these little pocket cards lately and I just had to try one out! I used Going Gray card stock for the card base and stamped the flourish from the Baroque Motifs set in Basic Gray on the front cover and flap. I can't seem to get enough of my new nestabilities either! I cut out the 3 biggest frames (biggest to smallest) in Basic Black, Pink Pirouette (retired) and Whisper White card stocks and layered them together using the Snail adhesive. The sentiment is from the Full of Life stamp set and I colored it using the Rich Razzleberry In Color marker and the Basic Black Stampin' marker. For a little extra somethin' I used 3 brads in Basic Black and a piece of scrap Basic Gray Taffeta ribbon to finish it off. The fun part of this little card is the double pocket inside, created by using an envelope. Take the envelope, seal it, cut it in half (the long way) and attach it to the inside. Now you have a perfect little card to send a little surprise in! I just love these and I'm sure I'll be making more! Thanks Krista! :)

Butterfly Birthday

Hi Everyone,

I am such a horrible procrastinator! One of my best friends' Birthday is today, so I made her card...today! It's not that I didn't know it was coming, I just wanted it to be the perfect card for her and I didn't get the vibe for it until tonight. Mel loves butterflies! So what better excuse to pull out the Big Shot and the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die and see what I could come up with!

This card is a 51/4" square, Whisper White card stock for the base. The main layer is Rich Razzleberry cut to 51/8" square. I used my paper piercing tool and the guide from the mat pack to pierce a border around the edge of the Rich Razzleberry. The grey accent is a piece of 17/8 x 43/8" designer series paper Walk in the Park (retired) layered on a 2 x 41/4" Basic Black card stock. For the sentiment I cut out the oval frame from the Lots of Tags sizzlits pack, once in Whisper White and once in Basic Black. I inked up the Birthday Wishes from the Sincere Salutations stamp set in Rich Razzleberry and stamped onto the Whisper White oval using my Stamp-a-ma-jig to center it perfectly. I really like this little tag frame because it perforates the inside edge of the oval so I was able to punch it out and layer it onto the same frame I had cut out in Basic Black. Now for the main element, the butterfly! I took a piece of Crushed Curry card stock and ran it through the Big Shot using the Swiss Dots embossing folder. Next, I took the embossed card stock and ran it through the Big Shot again, but used the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die to cut out my butterfly. To enhance the texture on the butterfly, I used a Stampin' Sponge and inked the edges and a bit of the wings with the Crushed Curry ink. The body of the butterfly uses the hat pin and 3 of the "crystal" beads from the Pretties Kit. To attach the butterfly to the card, first I folded the butterfly down the middle to give me a "guide" for the body. Next I took 2 mini glue-dots and rolled them between my fingers to form a small tube and then placed them under the "body" of the butterfly and adhered it to the card. I did the same with 3 more glue-dots on top of the "body" to hold the beads in place, and one more under the end of the hat pin so it wouldn't slide up and down. For the inside of the card I used the flourish from Baroque Motifs in Rich Razzleberry, the butterfly from Great Friend in Crushed Curry, and the sentiment from On Your Birthday in Basic Black.

And that's my card for tonight! I have to say I am happy with how quick it came together. I just hope the Birthday girl likes it. And I hope you do as well! I appreciate any comments / suggestions that you may have, so feel free to leave one!

Hi Everyone!

Unfortunately it's been a couple of days since I've made it into my stampin' space; however I did manage a couple of minutes today and thought maybe I'd try to kill two birds with one stone (figuratively of course)!
Today's card combines the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge and the Late Night Stampers color challenge (black and pink). I also needed an excuse to play with my new Nestabilities that came in :)
The card is super simple! Here's the how to for ya!

Whisper White card stock cut at 41/4 x 11", and scored at 51/2" for the base

Basic Black card stock cut to 4 x 51/4" , then embossed using the Big Shot and the Swiss Dots embossing folder

Pink Pirouette card stock cut to 1 x 51/4"; adhere to the Basic Black layer using the Snail adhesive

Cut a piece of Melon Mambo Polka-Dot grosgrain ribbon enough to wrap around the card stock and tie *HINT* For tying a simple knot - a length of ribbon that will go around your layer 1 1/2 times will be enough

Using the 2nd largest size of nestability, cut out and emboss a piece of Melon Mambo card stock

Using the next size down, cut out and emboss a piece of Whisper White card stock

Ink up the sentiment from the Great Friend stamp set in Rich Razzleberry and stamp onto the Whisper White cut out

Ink up the butterfly image from the same set in Melon Mambo, stamp the image once onto a piece of scrap paper - this takes of some of the ink and allows for a lighter shade to be stamped the second time - stamp over the sentiment

Layer the 2 cut outs and adhere them to the card front using Stampin' Dimensionals

Add 2 Whisper White 5/16" brads to the top right of the Basic Black layer

Mount the finished card front to the Whisper White base, and there it is!

I am so excited!! I just had to share this quickly! After I posted my current card over at Stamping 411, I started to browse through some older post and guess what I found..... my little Robot birthday card in their Stamper Showcase!!! I am so honored! And very excited!! :) I am still fairly new at this blog thing and have only just started playing these Sketch Challenges, so to have one of my little cards selected - I'm speechless!! Thank you so much to the operators over at the Stamping 411 for selecting my card, I truly appreciate this boost of confidence!

Hi Everyone!
No, I haven't completely lost it! But I have stamped my first Christmas card for this year! :) I stopped by to see what the Operators had posted for the Saturday Sketch Challenge over at Stamping 411, and the layout inspired me to try out a Christmas card! It's not really a traditional color selection, but I really like how they go together! I like how quick and easy this sketch is. Maybe I'll use it to design more of my Christmas cards this year! Here's how I made this one...

Cut a piece of Certainly Celery card stock to 51/2 x 81/2"; score at 41/4" to make the card base

Cut a piece of Soft Suede card stock to 51/4 x 4"

Cut a piece of Certainly Celery designer series paper to 51/8 x 37/8"; use the ticket corner punch, and punch each corner out; adhere the designer paper to the Soft Suede and set aside

Using the circled snowflake image from Season of Joy (#110384), ink it with Certainly Celery ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White card stock (x2); punch out using the 11/4" circle punch (#104403)

Punch out 2 circles in Soft Suede card stock using the 13/8" circle punch (#104401), and a scalloped circle using the scalloped circle punch (#109043)

Layer the circled snowflake images onto the Soft Suede circles using the Snail adhesive (#104332) and set aside

Ink the poinsettia image in Real Red and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White card stock, cut out using paper snips (#103579)

Sponge the edges of the scalloped circle with Soft Suede ink; adhere the poinsettia to the scalloped circle using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430) and set aside

Adhere the Soft Suede/Designer Paper layer to the card front

Measure out enough Soft Suede 1/2" Polka-Dot grosgrain ribbon to wrap around the card front 1 time, and adhere it to the card front *HINT* I use the mini-glue dots (#103683) to place ribbon - put 3 glue dots onto the ribbon and attach it to the inside of the card front, wrap the ends around to the front and adhere with 2 more glue dots on the end

Take the 3 layered images for the front and place them on the ribbon so that they are evenly spaced, adhere with Snail adhesive *HINT* the 2 ends of the ribbon are under the center image so that they are hidden

Stamp greeting from Heard from the Heart (#111644) in Soft Suede ink onto the front

Inside, stamp a sentiment from Many Merry Messages (#116586) using Soft Suede ink

The corners are stamped using the flourish from Season of Joy in Certainly Celery Ink, and then the small poinsettia image from the same set, in Always Artichoke ink

And that is the start of my Christmas cards! If I can do 5 of these a month up until the end of November, I should have enough to send out on time this year! LOL! I hope you have enjoyed this card as much as I have. Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Getting My Mojo On!

Hi Everyone!

I never used to be a big fan of Mondays - that is until I started playing along with the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge ! Now I really look forward to Mondays to see what the new sketch is and how I can interpret it.
So here is my submission for this week. I needed another Birthday card as my Aunt's is on Thursday. The color inspiration actually came from my Aunt's home. She lives in a beautiful one bedroom bungalow with lots of windows so it's sunny and bright just about all the time and her color scheme is brilliant blue and sunny yellow. I opted to use the new Crushed Curry card stock for this card because I LOVE this color and I like it very much with our Brilliant Blue card stock and the new Soft Suede card stock. My Aunt also has a beautiful blue and yellow floral print on one wall, so I knew I wanted to have floral elements on her card. So here is how I made this card...

Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock at 51/2" x 81/2" ; score at 41/4" for you card base

Cut a piece of Brilliant Blue card stock to 51/4 x 4" and 13/4 x 37/8"; set these aside

Cut a piece of Soft Suede card stock to 11/4 x 37/8", 11/8 x 21/4", 23/8 x 33/8" and 21/4 x 23/4" ; set these aside

Cut a piece of Crushed Curry card stock to 51/8 x 37/8". I inked up my French Script background stamp (retired) in Crushed Curry and stamped the card stock *HINT* When using the large background stamps I ink them and lay them on the table rubber side up and place the card stock on the rubber and use my brayer to press the paper onto the image for a nice even transfer.
I chose the large flower image from the level 3 hostess set Kind & Caring Thoughts, and I colored onto the image using the new In Color markers in Dusty Durango, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede; I misted the image lightly with some water, stamped it onto Whisper White card stock (21/4 x 31/4"), inked the edges slightly with Soft Suede and layered it onto a piece of Soft Suede card stock

Next, take the 21/4 x 2 3/4" piece of Soft Suede and run it through the Big Shot with the embossing folder of your choice ( I used Swiss Dots)

To make the band on the front, take the 11/4 x 37/8" piece of Soft Suede card stock and punch the edge with the Eyelet Border punch and the adhere it to the bottom of the Brilliant Blue card stock ( 13/4 x 37/8") using the Snail adhesive

Take a piece of Soft Suede Polka-Dot ribon (~51/2") and make a simple knot about 1 1/2" from one end; adhere the ribbon across the front of the band but not all the way around ; set aside
I wanted to continue with the floral motif so I inked up the small flower in Crushed Curry and stamped it randomly on a piece of Whisper White card stock (1 x 21/8"), then I stamped the greeting with Brilliant Blue ink *HINT* To make sure your greeting is perfectly placed every time, I use my Stamp-a-ma-jig

Layer the greeting onto the final pieces of Soft Suede and then Brilliant Blue card stock

The layering of the elements is what makes this sketch a bit tricky - start by placing the embossed piece of Soft Suede on the Crushed Curry front, next layer the large flower image

The Brilliant Blue band is next, once this is adhered across the front, you can the bring the ends of the ribbon around the Crushed Curry card stock and adhere it to the back of that

Add the greeting panel to the front using Stampin' Dimensionals for effect

Once this is done, layer it all onto the Brilliant Blue and then onto the Whisper White card base - decorate the inside as you like and enjoy!

Well it's Sunday Evening...

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick post this evening. I wanted to share with you the card I made for the Saturday Sketch Challenge from Stamping 411. I used some retired papers for this one as I need to make room for the beautiful new designer series papers that are in the new catalogue. The base of this card is done in Pirouette Pink. I layered a piece of Sweet Always designer series paper onto Chocolate Chip card stock and adhered that to the card base using the Snail Adhesive. Next I used a piece of Regal Rose card stock to form the band across the front of the designer paper and added 3 flowers from the Accents and Elements Flower Fusion 2 kit and attached them with antique copper brads as their centers. The sentiment tag is from the Great Friend stamp set, inked in Chocolate Chip, stamped onto Pirouette Pink card stock and cut out using my paper snips. These little scissors are a must for cutting out fine detailed images! I don't know how I ever managed before I owned them! The little greeting in the tag is from a retired level 1 hostess set, Sweet Little Sentiments. To add a bit of extra detailing on the card front I used our paper piercing tool and pierced a border around the edge. I also stamped inside the card using the butterfly and leaf images from the Great Friend stamp set.
And that's my card for this evening. Quick and simple, yet with just the right amount of embellishments - I think. I'd love to hear what you think, so please feel free to leave a comment!

Hi Everyone!

No card today, sorry. I was scheduled to work an 8 hour shift today, and it turned out to be 10.5 hours, so it kinda cut into my stampin' time at home. Oh well, I'll try again tomorrow. In the meantime I have a question for you all, a survey of sorts... Since my Blogaversary is coming up on August 11th and I have plans to give away some more Blog Candy, I am wondering what kind of "candy" do you like? I think my Birthday give away was a good bit, with a mini stamp kit, some cardstock and ribbons, but this is my First Blogaversary! I want it to be great! So I am asking for your input. Please comment on this post with some things that you have received as Blog Candy, or would like to see in a Blog Candy give away. I will compile your feedback and then see what kind of goodie bag I can come up with this time!

A Very Special Birthday Card

Hi Everyone!

I have to say this work thing is totally interfering with my stampin' and blogging! LOL! I really enjoyed being home with my kids last week and having the time to blog and stamp almost daily was a dream! But like with all dreams, I had to wake up at some point...
I did make it into my stampin' space for a bit so that I could try out this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I really liked the sketch and was anxious to try it out with some more of my new stamps and papers from the new Stampin' Up Catalogue. I also was in need of a birthday card for a very special lady. One of my friends' Mom is turning 94 on Thursday! Can you imagine being 94 and witnessing first hand all the changes that have gone on in the world? Sometimes when I think back about just some of the changes I have seen in my life time it's amazing, but a lot has happened in the past 94 years! I have had the pleasure of spending time with Bertha, and she is a lovely person. She loves crafty things and especially hand stamped cards so there was no way I wasn't going to make her one.
I jumped into the new In Colors again for this card, and tried out my new Circle Circus (#115778) stamp set. The base of the card is Whisper White cardstock. I cut a piece of Bermuda Bay (#115317) cardstock to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8" and the using the large flower circle stamp, I inked it with VersaMark (#102283) and stamped the images randomly on the cardstock to create a background. I wanted to keep the circle theme going, so I created my own designer paper using Whisper White cardstock as the base and 3 different circle images from the set. I inked up the first stamp in Crushed Curry (#115659) and stamped a few random images. I then took my second circle and inked it in the Melon Mambo (#115656) and stamped a few images, and the did the same with the last image in the Rich Razzleberry (#115658) ink. Once this was finished I layered it onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock. I chose a piece of Soft Suede (#115318) cardstock and a piece of 1/4" Basic Black grosgrain ribbon for the accents on the card. The greeting is from the Full of Life (#111500) stamp set, inked in Rich Razzleberry, stamped on Whisper White and then layered onto Rich Razzleberry (#115316) cardstock. For the final circle element on the card, I again chose 2 more of the images from the Circle Circus stamp set, inked them both with the Melon Mambo ink, stamped them onto the Melon Mambo (#115320) cardstock, punched it out using the 1 1/4" circle punch (#104403) and layered it onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock that had been punched out with the 1 3/8" circle punch (#104401). The fun thing with the Circle Circus stamp set it that it coordinates with all of our circle punches! So you can stamp any of the images from this set and punch them out perfectly to add as an extra element on any of your cards and other projects.

My Mojo's Running a Little Late!

Hi Everyone!

Wow! What a fun/busy week this has been! I've had so much fun blogging almost everyday that I'm going to miss is when I have to slip back into reality next week and go to work. :(
I'm just getting around to posting my submission for this weeks Mojo Monday sketch challenge. For this week I used some of the retired Walk in the Park designer series paper. I really like this paper and will miss it - fortunately however, there are LOTS more beautiful papers in the New Idea Book & Catalogue!
The base of this card is made using Very Vanilla Cardstock. The first layer is a piece of the Walk in the Park designer series paper. I then cut a piece of retired Kiwi Kiss cardstock to 4 x 4" and scalloped the edges with our Scalloped Edge Punch (#112091). Hey! Did you know that the Scalloped Edge punch is on sale this week!? I finally found a layout that was just right for trying out my new Kind and Caring Thoughts, level 3 hostess set. I inked the small bud in Pretty in Pink and then stamped the image onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I used a piece of Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon (#109056) tied around a piece of So Saffron Cardstock and layered it onto the Kiwi Kiss scalloped square. I adhered the image of the bud over the ribbon and on the So Saffron using Mini Glue Dots. For the greeting I inked up Thanks from the Thank You Kindly (#111700) stamp set in Kiwi Kiss and stamped it onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and punched it out using the Large Oval (#107305) punch. This was layered onto a Kiwi Kiss scalloped oval that had been punched out using the Scalloped Oval (#114889) punch, and adhered using Stampin' Dimensionals. For the brads in the sketch I chose to make my own, using Regal Rose cardstock and the Trio Flower (#109183) punch and put on using the 2-way Glue Pen (#100425). I love using the glue pen as it goes on with precision on small items and because it allows you the chance to reposition it if you don't like where you first put the item (as long as you do it quickly). Something I don't usually do, but would like to get more in the habit of, is stamping the inside of my cards. So today I used a greeting from Full of Life (#111500) inked in Kiwi Kiss and stamped inside the card. It looked kind of plain, so I inked up the small bud again in the Pretty in Pink and stamped a couple of then on opposite corners. Much better. :)

I just want to say a BIG Thank-you to everyone who popped by yesterday to leave me Birthday wishes! You all made my day that much brighter! Considering this was my first run at giving away Blog Candy, I think (after a bumpy start) it turned out well! Now I feel more confident about doing it again on August 11th for my Blogaversary! I haven't decided what I'm putting together for that one, but you can be sure it will be full of fun stuff!
So to thank eveyone who played along yesterday, this Thank-you card is for you! Another quick and easy card featuring some of the new In Colors. For this card I used the Crushed Curry cardstock (#115319) and layered it on a Whisper White card base. Next I pulled out my Big Shot and the Manhattan Flower embossing folder (#114517) and ran a piece of Shimmery White cardstock (#101910)through it. I colored the roses using Patty Bennett's debossed brayer technique with the Crushed Curry (#115659) and Dusty Durango (#115654) inks. I then cut out the roses and adhered them to the Crushed Curry card front. As I was cleaning my stampin' space the other day I found my package of printed Window Sheets (#115122)that I had ordered and obviously forgotten about. So I used the Thank-You piece from one of my newly found window sheets for the top layer of the card. I attached the window sheet using 2 silver brads (#104336) in the top corners of the card. And there you have it! Quick and easy and looks like you spent a ton of time on it. That's what I really like about the printed window sheets, they can really pull your card together in a hurry. I also like the fact that there are 4 printed designs on each of the 8 1/2 x 11" sheets, giving you 4 standard A2 card fronts. Very cool.

Well, today is the day! Yup, I'm another year older now, not sure if I'm any wiser though! :)
I'm just going to start off with a quick post this morning. These are a couple of the wonderful Birthday cards I have received in the mail from fellow stampers! Thanks SO much for thinking of me! I really appreciate the wishes!
So today is the day that all you wonderful visitors to my blog must leave me a comment (even if it just says Happy B'day) so that I can send out a Birthday Goodie Bag to one of you for stopping by! It's a rainy Sunday....

Hi Everyone!

Look at me with back -to- back posts this weekend! I'm kinda in catch up mode, and with the kids chilaxin' now that's it's summer break, Mommy has had a bit more time to be creative. This card is slipping in just under the wire for last Monday's Mojo sketch challenge #92. I have to admit I stumbled a bit with this sketch at first. I had wanted to use my Lovely As A Tree (#115026) set, but I just couldn't make it work the way I wanted. So I turned to my newly purchased Petal Pizzazz (#113417) and my ever favorite set of greetings, Full of Life (#111500), threw in some Bermuda Bay, Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock, ribbon and embellishments and voila! I am happy with how it turned out! I have to say, try as I might to make super embellished, lavishly layered, ultra-detailed cards - it's just not in me. I guess I'm just a simple girl at heart! I'm actually kinda proud of myself for using ribbon, brads and a piece of hardware all on the same card! LOL! I just love the 1/2" polka-dot grosgrain ribbon in the new In Colors! I used the Melon Mambo (#115611) and laced it through a piece of now retired hodgepodge hardware. I kept the layering effect of the Bermuda Bay on Basic Black with the 3 black brads from the Vintage set (#109109) in the bottom left corner. The flower element on the card is the scalloped petal flower from the Petal Pizzazz set, inked in Melon Mambo (#115656) and stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and then cut out. For the center of the flower I got a little creative and used one of the Whisper White 5/16" Jumbo Brads (#112534) and covered it with StazOn ink in Jet Black (#101406). I attached the flower to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals (#104430) for that added 3D effect. And that's it! My card for today.
I do have to make another and I have something else that I've been wanting to try, so if I get it finished, I'll post it as well. Hi Everyone!

Well school is done for another year! The kids are truly enjoying their first day of summer vacation. It's a lovely 25 Celsius with sun and a light breeze and they've been in the little pool already. I'm just happy to have the break from packing lunches and hurrying them to get dressed and out the door to the bus on time! *sigh* It's too bad summer break is so short...
OK, enough of that! What a great mail day I've had the past 2 days! On Thursday I got my box of NEW Stampin' Up catalogues! And then on Friday I got my box of sneak peak goodies with all the new In Color inks and papers and ribbons, and the Lots of Bots (#115293) stamp set! WooHoo! So you know I HAD to play with them! LOL! It's too bad that the box didn't arrive so that I could have made the Teacher's cards with the new colors. Oh well, there's always next year.
Perfectly timed, my son's friend's Birthday is today so I made his card using the Lots of Bots set. I went with this weeks Stamping 411 sketch #105. I used the new In Color Bermuda Bay for the base and ran it through the Big Shot with a Happy Birthday embossing folder. For the band across the front I used a strip of Whisper White and stamped it with the nuts-n-bolts image from the Lots of Bots set using the Crushed Curry ink and sponged around the edges with it as well, and layered it on a piece of Crushed Curry that was sponged on the edges as well. For the greeting I used the Birthday Bot from the set. I just love the "Happy Birthday Human", it's too cute! I stamped the Bot with the Basic Black ink and layered him on the Bermuda Bay cardstock and adhered him to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. For a bit of color I used my blender pen in the Crushed Curry ink and colored in the balloon, his eyes and the heart on the treat bag. There! My first card with all new products! Quick and easy and passed inspection by one of my toughest critics - my 7yr old son, who said, "Ah cool Robots Mom! Nice!". Whew! Guess I can safely use this set for his other friends Birthday cards now! LOL!

Hello Everyone!
Sorry I've been absent the past while, it's been busy here with year end events for the kids at school and I've been trying to take part in as many as I can which hasn't allowed for much time in the stampin' room. With that said, I apologize for not posting a card today either, but I wanted to atleast let you know I'm still around. I will be making some cards tonight for sure, as I haven't done the Teacher's cards yet (I'm such a procrastinator) so I will post those once they're done.
I do have some fun news... the NEW CATALOGUES are here!!! They arrived on my doorstep lastnight! I am going to be soooo broke adding to my collection with all the fantastic new stamps and papers and accessories, Oh My!
And don't forget about my Birthday this coming Monday the 29th! I get another year tacked on and YOU get the presents! Oh What a Beautiful Day!

Hi Everyone!

Summer has finally arrived in Northeastern Ontario! It was a beautiful 21 Celsius yesterday, and it's currently sitting at 26 Celsius at the moment. Ahhh-hhhh! It's been a long time coming, and I hope it lasts!
Ok, so yesterday I had hoped to make and post a second card. Well, I made the card, just didn't get it up until now. This is my interpretation of the Mojo Monday #91 card sketch. I once again dipped into my pile of favorite retired papers and came up with the old Afternoon Tea designer paper. I loved this paper and still have an abundance of it socked away. The complementary colors are the retired Groovy Guava, Buckaroo Blue, Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi, and the ever popular Close to Cocoa. I decided to use the Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set, as I have had this one for a while but never seem to use it very often. I just felt inspired to ink it up and see what happened and this is it! I colored the bloom with the inks and my blender pens and then sponged the edges with Guava. The blossom definition is stamped in Chocolate Chip, layered on Wasabi and mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals. I stamped Bloom in Chocolate Chip as well, sponged over it with Close to Cocoa and layered it on a Wasabi scalloped oval. Black brads punctuate the oval and adhere the tab of taupe ribbon. Last, but not least, the bee. I colored him with Summer Sun and Close to Cocoa inks using the blender pen again and mounted it with a dimensional as well. Not bad, used 4 of the 5 stamps that come in the set! I like this card. Not my usual clean and simple. I'd love to know what you think, so as always, feel free to leave a comment!

Who Wants Some Candy!?!

Blog Candy, that is!

Good Monday Morning Everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Mine was good - relaxing and we even had some nice weather! I was starting to give up hope of enjoying our deck without having to put on a sweater, but no warm clothes were required this weekend. Enough about that, it's Monday and I have a lot to cover today, so let's get started! LOL!

So about the Blog Candy. Well, seeing as my First Blogoversary is coming up in August, and I want to do something special for that - I figured I should probably have a trial run to make sure that it will be a success. With that said, why not have a trial run for my Birthday! And when is my Birthday, you ask? The end of this month! Monday, June 29th to be exact. I would like to propose that for everyone who leaves a comment on my blog on my Birthday, I will put their name in for a draw for some Blog Candy that will include (but not be limited to) the mini-notes kit Birthdays Count from the current SU! catalogue. This little kit includes a double mounted stamp, 4 Whisper White gift notes and envelopes and a Chocolate Chip Stampin' spot. I will also be throwing in some other little goodies, but you'll have to wait until June 29th to see what the extras will be!!

Now onto the card. Today's first card (sounding optimistic that I'll get another done) is a simple "Z-fold" card. I figured I should promote my upcoming Birthday with a card to myself, LOL! I used a piece of 41/4" x 11" Chocolate Chip cardstock scored at 2 3/4 " and again at 5 1/2" for the base. I used a second piece of Chocolate Chip (3x4") and layered with Regal Rose (27/8"x 37/8") for the front. The accent piece on the front fold is a piece of Sweet Always designer series paper cut to 1 3/4" x 4 1/4". Inside the card I used a piece of Pink Pirouette cut to 4 x 51/4". The closure for the card was made using a flower from the Petal Pizzazz stamp set stamped in Pumpkin Pie ink on the matching cardstock, punched out with the 1 1/4" circle punch, accented with the Pumpkin Pie flower brad from designer brads Flower Assortment. I did the same tone-on-tone flower stamping on the Pink Pirouette and the Regal Rose, and added the Pretty in Pink flower brads to the front. Sentiments are from the On Your Birthday stamp set, stamped in Chocolate Chip ink. *Whew* I think it took less time to make the card then to type the recipe! LOL!

Hi Everyone!

Today's card is doing double duty. It is my submission for Mojo Monday sketch challenge #90, and it is also another of the cards that we will be making at my Stampers Club this coming Saturday. I think this stamp set is so fun, and very usable for the men in my family! LOL! For this card I went again with the Manchester designer paper and it's co-ordinating colors in the cardstock and inks. I also added the corduroy buttons in the Kraft and Baja Breeze for that extra element in the sketch instead of a punch. I love the Baja Breeze and will be very sad to see it gone at the end of the month - that's why I'm stocking up! Good Evening!

Hi Everyone,
A late post I know, but I was spending some quality time with the family this weekend. I truly hope that where ever you are, the weather has been more seasonable than what we have had here. I really shouldn't complain, we did have sun and no rain today, but is it too much to ask that on June 7th it's more than 10 degrees Celsius? Any way we did enjoy going to the Multi-Cultural Fest with our friends and then playing at the park for awhile. All in all it was a good day, and getting out for the fresh air is what counts. Then after the kiddies are off to bed, I get to sneak into my stampin space for a bit! So here is what I came up with this evening. I can honestly say I have never really been much for flower stamps, but I really like the Fifth Avenue Floral set. I'm very glad that it's not on the Last Chance List! This was an attempt at the depth of field technique from the current Technique Junkies newsletter. I'm not sure if it's exactly how I wanted it to turn out, but I do like it. The sentiment from this set is definitely one of my favs, and I am slowly becoming a fan of ribbon as an embellishment. Hi Everyone!

So I finally managed to sneak away to my stampin' spot and work on a card. I have been wanting to do this one for a while now. This card came courtsey of fellow Canadian SU! Demonstrator, Andrea Walford. She is super talented and I love her projects! You can see more of her work here. I really like this card because it's a card and it's own envelope all in one! You can switch up the paper and stamp set and use it for anything and anyone, but because it's June and Father's Day is right around the corner - enough said. Hi Everyone!

I finally received my Manhattan Flower textured impressions die. I love it! I have always liked the look of the dry emobossing from the folders like the Cuttlebug ones, so this one from Stampin' Up suits me just fine. It helps that it co-ordinates with my current fav stamp set, Fifth Avenue Floral. Anyway~ I've been anxious to try it out after I watched another of Patty Bennett's fab video tutorials. Basically you use the debossed side of the image and add the colors using your brayer. Patty's tutorial is here if you're interested in trying this out. I am quite pleased with how my card turned out. It's all about the shimery white card stock! If you haven't tried it yet, you need to! It definitely adds that certain je ne sais quoi to the project. I'm using this as a wedding card for a friend, so I hope she will like it as well. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think too!

Well, for my Canadian friends anyway it's a holiday. So I have to say I have enjoyed my long weekend at home with my family. We relaxed, painted my daughter's room and relaxed some more! And I squeezed in a little stampin' time! I'm really getting hooked on the sketch challenges from Mojo Monday - the Blog. This is the sketch for today, and this is my interpretation. I love these challenges because it really helps my work through my piles of scrap papers! This card uses all SU! products with the exception of the clear dew drops. I'll add the recipe below for those who are interested. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Sorry about not making my usual Monday post, but I had errands and appointments that I just couldn't put off so unfortunately my stamping was postponed. :( However, after a much deserved relaxing start to my morning, I thought I'd try out this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch. I {heart} Charlie Horse and wanted to incorporate him into this card, plus I figured it would be a good chance to use this weeks try a new technique from SCS - the bandana technique. Talk about killling 2 birds with 1 stone! I quite like how it has turned out, and I hope you do too! Feel free to post a comment and let me know what you think!

My Water colored roses

OK, so I tried out the technique and I have to say I LOVE it! It's easy and the results are beautiful! I have to say though, next time I will use the Shimmery White card stock (#101910). I only had the Whisper White on hand and it worked, I just think the Shimmery will give it that "something" extra. It does take a while for the ink to dry when you're doing this, so in the mean time I tried out a little scalloped circle card using my Bigz Scallop Circle die (#113468) and my Big Shot. The picture isn't the greatest, but I do like how the card turned out. For the smaller circles I used the now retired Colozzle cutter, but you could use the Circle Scissors Plus cutting system (pg.188) instead.
So that's my contribution for this Monday. Not bad if I do say so myself! Two cards made, updated the blog, made a pot of spilt pea soup and caught up on the laundry. *Whew* :)

And a beautiful Monday it is! The sun is shining and it's warming up outside. All in all, a positive start to the week! The sun has me inspired so I think I'll pop into my stampin' room and try out a new water coloring technique for the big rose stamp from the "Fifth Avenue Floral" stamp set (#113734). When I have successfully completed my card I will post it for you to see. In the meantime here is the video tutorial that I will be following. Good Monday Morning Stampers!

Well, I survived another busy weekend! On Friday night after my daughters gymnastics, we came home and had our friend Jacob sleepover. Not sure how much sleep was had, but I know they had tons of fun! Saturday was tidy up day and Sunday was Molly's "fake" Birthday party. She called it her "fake Birthday" because her actual birth date is April 28th. We made beautiful Princess crowns, necklaces and bracelets and ate purple magic unicorn cake. All in all I'd call it a success.

Believe it or not, I even found time to make this card on the weekend as well. The inspiration came from the March Stampin' Success magazine. I really like these little swing top cards - a nice change and easy too! I used the "Great Friend" stamp set (#11372) from the current Occasions Mini catalogue, the retired designer paper "Afternoon Tea" and the co-ordinating cardstock from the 2008 In Color series, Groovy Guava, and Soft Sky with Chocolate Chip accents. I really like this set. I can see me using it for a lot of things. It would make a very nice Mother's Day card as well.

Time Flies...

Wow, it's hard to believe that April is almost over and May is just around the corner! This month has been very busy for me - lots of Birthdays, and Easter and of course, Stampin'! So I took some time for myself this evening and tried a card I've had the pattern sitting on my table for a couple of weeks. I think it turned out pretty cute! I LOVE the little flower pot! What a great card for Mother's Day, or Get Well Soon, or With Sympathy...lots of uses! This card was inspired by Stephanie Luman, a fellow Stampin' Up Demonstrator. It looks like a difficult card but let me tell you, it's quicker and easier than I even thought it would be, and that's why it is one for the May Stampers Club! Yup! You girls are gonna get a chance to make this sweet little bouquet of flowers for yourselves - because who doesnt like to get flowers!?

April Club Cards

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to be running late with my projects post for this month. April is a VERY busy month in our family with lots of Birthdays to attend and of course, Easter, so my weekends get filled quickly. But enough of that! The first card is a birthday card using the Sweet Always Designer Paper(#112468) and it's co-ordinating colors in pumpkin pie, chocolate chip and regal rose. The sentiment outside and in uses the On Your Birthday stamp set(#111664) and features the 5 petal punch flower from the Polka Dot Punches sale-a-bration set that I know many of you selected last month! The layout for this card came from Splitcoaststampers weekly card sketch that you can see here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=427937.

The second card this month demonstrates the "spotlight" technique. For this one I chose to use basic black and whisper white cardstock with riding hood red as the accent. The textured background was created using an embossing folder and my fav toy - the Big Shot. The flower image is from the Bloomin' Beautiful stamp set (#111490) and the sentiment is from the Fresh Cuts set (#111634). I hope you enjoy them!

Sale-a-bration Project

Hi, I just thought I'd share a card we made for our March Stampers Club. Because I am SO tired of the snow and winter, I selected Spring-y colors for this card - Certainly Celery and So Saffron. I used the small flower stamp from the Polka Dot Punches SAB mini and stamped it with the So Saffron first, and then in the Certainly Celery. The "Happy Easter"(from A Good Egg set) is stamped with Old Olive This card is so quick and easy and you could put any greeting on it that you want - very versatile! Hope you enjoy it!

OH NO!

Ok, so I decided to do some cleaning/organizing/rearranging in my stampin' space. Things were going pretty well until I moved some stuff and found a small leak in the back corner of my closet! BOO! This has definitely put things on hold until I can get it fixed. It's not big, but just enough that because I know it's there, I cannot rest until it's gone. Why have I shared this with you, you maybe wondering? Well, it's keeping me from doing anything crafty, like the Easter postings I promised. So I guess you'll have to be happy with the card I showed you and trust me that you'll like the other projects that I have planned for us this month!

Wow! Time flies around here! I can't believe that I haven't posted in almost a month...crazy! So to make up for that I will post the first card that we will be doing for our March Stampers CLub meeting. It's an Easter card and uses the A Good Egg stamp set (#114974 $28.95). I had fun with this one as it uses spring colors and I am MORE than ready for spring! I am going to do one more Easter card and a surprise item as well, but I'm not going to post them today! I'm going to make you check back tomorrow for one and Monday for the other! I know, not very nice, but I can't spoil you and give you everything all at once!

Stamp Club Projects

Hi All!

Today was the first Stamp Club for the new catalogue! Better late than never, and it has the added bonus of being during Sale-a-bration! So we made 2 cards, one using the faux silk technique and the other is a crimped envelope card. Both of these cards are made with In Color cardstock and inks in Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze and Pacific Point. I really like how these color combos look! The Happy Everything card uses the new Sweet Stems stamp set (pg.99) and Happy Everything set (pg.137). The crimped envelope card features the Fresh Cut stamp set (pg.92), the curly label and large oval punches, and a build-a-brad as an accent. I have to apologize for the sentiment used on this card, as it is from a retired set. I really try to only use current sets, but I really like this one. These will be the projects for both stamp clubs this month. If you are not a member, but would like to be, please email me for more information. Happy New Year Stampers!

OK! So one of my resolutions for this coming year is to be more active on my blog! So I am starting off by posting a peek at what we're doing at on next Stampers 6 get together this coming Sunday. It's using the new Love You Much stamping bundle from Stampin' Up! Please check the link on the side for all the promotion details! I am really enjoying the versatility of this bundle. It has the three heart punch that matches perfectly to the 3 heart stamp in the set, as well as co-ordinating double-sided designer papers, and of course the stamps, which are super cute! It's being advertised as a Valentine's Special, but these stamps can be used for an anniversary card, a thinking of you card, or on any of your scrapbook pages. Definitely check this one out, I think you'll agree it's a must have set! Until next time...
